Rutgers RWJ Medical School Pediatric Outpatient Surgery Suite

Located in an aged building in downtown New Brunswick, this pediatric outpatient surgery suite was one of many units slated for renovation. The clinicians, support staff, patients, and families now have an upgraded, welcoming, and kid-friendly space with new reception, waiting room, patient rooms, and clinical offices. Featured in the design is color-coded wayfinding to make the user experience fun and unique – each patient room is a different color with coordinating floor locater stripes. The orange stripes take you to the orange room, the yellow stripes to the yellow room, and so on. The waiting room also features a digital screen that displays kid-friendly programming to distract the little patients from the potentially anxious doctor’s visit.
