NYC SCA Albee Square School

Working closely with NYC SCA, a development partner and construction manager, DIG developed plans for the design of a new primary school for approximately 375 pre-K-5 students (85-95 students per grade) under a citywide initiative to alleviate overcrowding.

Located at One Willoughby Square, The Albee Square Campus occupies the first six floors of a new 34-story mixed-use building branded as 1WSQ. The 540-foot-high office tower is the first new building of its kind to take shape in Downtown Brooklyn since 2004.

The Albee Square Campus occupies approximately 80,000 SF and includes convertible assembly and gym space, a cafeteria, grade-specific floors and a dedicated entry on the ground level. Thanks to the incorporation of sustainable design elements, the school has earned NYC Green Schools Guide Certification.

The Albee Square Campus is the second project that DIG has completed in partnership with NYC SCA, in addition to two others nearing design completion.
