The Tilghman House renovation project began with a feasibility assessment to clarify existing conditions,
prepare conceptual options for renovation, and quantify costs for the work. With the exception of the main entry hall and central stair, which retained their original woodwork and decorative glazing, the facility underwent a major renewal of finishes and systems.
Renovations were made to all three floors, creating meeting space, classrooms and administrative and support space. Barrier-free accessibility was provided via a new elevator that was carefully designed to fit within the existing building footprint. This project’s funding was a successful joint venture between Drew University and INTO, the international students program served by the renovation.
